There are two scholarships available to the conference:
ISFLA's Marilyn Mohan Scholarship
This scholarships supports scholars from the SouthAsia region to attend the 39th International Systemic Functional Congress. The scholarship fund was established through a generous gift by Professor Bernie Mohan, in 2004, and named by ISFLA in honour of his late wife. The scholarship will contribute to travel, registration, and accommodation for participants who show demonstrated leadership in the study of systemic functional linguistics in a South Asian developing country. Under Canadian International Development Agency principles, the scholarship can only be offered to citizens of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Myanmar and the Maldives.
Criteria
- Citizen of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Myanmar or the Maldives.
- In a position to disseminate theoretical and practical knowledge in SFL to local communities of scholars and language teaching practitioners.
- Able to attend both the 5 day pre-conference institute and the 5 days of the ISFC39 conference from July 8th-20th 2012.
ISFC39 Conference Committee Scholarships
This year the conference committee will support a scholar from Indonesia to attend the 39th International Systemic Functional Congress. The scholarship will contribute to travel, registration, and accommodation for participants who show demonstrated leadership in the study of systemic functional linguistics in Indonesia.
Criteria
- Citizen of Indonesia
- In a position to disseminate theoretical and practical knowledge in SFL to local communities of scholars and language teaching practitioners.
- Able to attend both the 5 day pre-conference institute and the 5 days of the ISFC39th conference from July 9th-20th 2012.
